Sensei Rich has been studying Jujitsu & Judo for many years. He dedicates most of his time to the dojo, living his dream by advancing his students' progress in the martial arts. He is an eternal student always looking to better himself. His passion for the martial arts shows in every lesson.
Sensei Mike had an interest in martial arts at an early age. He studied Judo for a short while at the age of 10. In 2009, he resumed his training with his son at Dento Teki Na with the addition of Japanese Jujitsu. He attained his black belt in Jujitsu in 2015. He takes great pride and pleasure in working with the next generation of judokas.
Sensei Felicia's martial arts journey began with Tae Kwon Do, where she earned her brown belt. Driven by a desire to expand her skills, she explored other disciplines, leading her to Japanese Jujitsu and Judo. For several years, she trained in both Jujitsu and Judo simultaneously. Eventually, she chose to focus more on traditional Japanese Jujitsu and earned her black belt. After achieving this milestone, she shifted her attention to Judo, continuing her growth and dedication in the martial arts world. She continues to train and teach in both disciplines, as well as adding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Sensei Mike served in the United States Coast Guard for 6 ½ years (honorably discharged). He has been training with Dento Teki Na since February 2016. His prior experience includes Muay Thai, boxing, grappling, kickboxing, MMA, and weapons defense all of which complement his training and instructing. He competes in tournaments up and down the East Coast. He has also competed in Kickboxing/MMA bouts and has his Amateur MMA card.
Sensei Giovanni started practicing Judo as a teenager in Italy from 13 till 19 years old. He moved to the United States in 1996. After a long hiatus, he resumed his training with Dento Teki Na because Judo always held a special place in his heart. He believes Judo is a good sport for fitness, stress relief, cardio, discipline, and self-defense.
Sensei Igor began his training at a young age in the USSR. After moving to the United States, he decided to recommence his training and joined Dento Teki Na in January 2018 where he brought his son to begin his own Judo training. He started from the beginning and his passion for the sport grew as he quickly progressed through the ranks. He is an active competitor at tournaments. For him Judo is not just simply a sport, but a lifestyle, code, way.
Sensei Mike's passion for martial arts began in his youth with Shotokan Karate before transitioning to wrestling in high school. He wrestled all four years, served as team captain, won gold, placed in multiple tournaments, and qualified for States in 2013 and 2014. In 2016 he resumed his martial arts journey with the Dento Teki Na family, earning his Shodan in Japanese Jujitsu after eight years of dedicated training. He is currently pursuing his Shodan in Judo and has also begun training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He occasionally steps onto the competition mat to test his skills in Jiu Jitsu and Judo tournaments. He considers himself a long student of the martial arts, constantly seeking to refine his skills, expand his knowledge, and deepen his understanding of the craft. Outside the dojo he enjoys weightlifting, fishing, and is dedicated fan of the New York Rangers.
Johnny Pierno has extensive training in various martial arts, including boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate, wrestling, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At 24 years old, he earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Marcio Bittencourt. Coach Johnny has won numerous grappling competitions across all BJJ belt levels and currently holds the 170lb kickboxing title, as well as the 170lb and 165lb MMA titles for Jackhammer Promotions, alongside the 165lb WRSA NY State MMA title. In addition to his competitive success, he has coached many students to championship victories in multiple combat sports, including MMA, kickboxing, boxing, and submission grappling.
With over 20 years of martial arts experience and 13 years dedicated to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Coach Nick is a first-degree black belt known for his technical knowledge and effective coaching style. He has guided numerous students to success in Jiu Jitsu tournaments, helping them earn medals through strategic training and competition preparation.
In addition to Jiu Jitsu, Coach Nick actively trains in armored combat fighting, further expanding his expertise in martial arts. When he's not on the mats, he enjoys hiking and exploring nature, finding balance between physical discipline and mental resilience.
Coach Craig wrestled for and graduated from Tottenville High School. After graduation, he attended Johnson & Wales University, class of 2022. He is also assistant coach at Tottenville High School. His accolades include 2018 State qualifier, 2018 Mayor’s Cup champion, 2x Academic All-American (2019 and 2022), 2019 NEWA all-rookie team, 2019 JWU most takedowns (109), 2024 NYC assistant coach of the year.
